Just do it!

We all have a fantastic power, we just need to use it.

There is absolutely no doubt that we all have fantastic power, yes we can change our lives in an instant. What a tremendous feeling that is, to know that you can change your life in a split second and that no one can stop you, once you recognise this fact then you are on the road to truly sorting yourself out and taking control of your life.

The best thing of all is that this power comes free, we don’t have to pay anything, it is within us all, we just need to recognise it, and of course, we have to put it into practice. We are, of course, talking about our power and ability to be able to make a decision.

We all have experiences of making decisions though, or not making them (that’s another blog) I want you to fully experience the awesome power of what it is like to make one though and the massive benefits that can result.

Of course, many of the decisions we make on a daily basis are really more of a ‘preference’ which is what you could call a weak decision or to be honest not actually making a decision at all which is exactly what will happen! We make preferences all the time, how many New Year’s resolutions do we make such as “I want to lose weight” or “I want to stop smoking” they are preferences.  You and I secretly know that when we say these words like that we don’t actually mean it and sometimes we even know it when we are saying it! No surprise then when after a few weeks we are back to our old habits again.  Also using disempowering words such as “I will try to..” if you ever have a party and someone says they will “try” to be there you can put them on the never turning up list! The word try is a very disempowering word as it gives us an option not to do it as we are only trying.

Of course, when we make a real decision it is genuinely empowering and focused, like a powerful laser beam that can’t be stopped, not that we can’t change our decisions, that is important also but the beam has the power to burn through any element of doubt such as convenient excuses such as “I didn’t have time” or “I couldn’t because of …..” and “it will be ok just this once” not that there’s anything wrong with saying these things, but in providing these excuses we didn’t really make a decision. Also, by using these excuses, we can easily make breaking a decision a habit and the habit we want to have is regularly making decisions, real ones, not preferences.

We discuss the power of decisions in many of our training programmes as they can be an extremely positive influence; they improve self-esteem, and they enable us to take control of our lives, you just need to make one to find out.  When was the last time you made one???
